Day 7 interruption

Day 7 of NYFW has reared its head and I seem to be plugging through the end of this week unscathed and smiling. Besides an iPhone that runs out of juice, therefore searching any bar or restaurant for a charging station, fashion week is coming to a close with a bang. I have so much to write and say and so little time. I wore this outfit yesterday for Valentine’s Day, a lady in pink and purple pastels, not red, as I wore red the other day. Recycling looks is NOT permitted in these zones. Check here just in case you missed it. Lo and behold I am ready to take on the last and final two days of NYFW in the highest way.

Jes Wade purple shearling vest, Calypso pink sweater, Miu Miu shoes, Wolford tights,  Maje skirt, Mulberry bag, J.Crew white shirt, Tom Ford sunglasses, Chanel vintage bracelet.

Soft pastels paired with black tights and a leather skirt make an outfit a little edgy. Hair is pulled back in a side pony as I haven’t had time to get my hair straightened and done in time for the morning rush.

Ultimately, the above photo above describes a look such as “You are kidding me, right?” or “Please don’t steal my taxi” or you can think of your own bubble coming out of my brain. It’s good to keep you on your toes and thinking.

I also wanted to a moment to thank my new photographer friend Michael, Michael is a she, who has taken those brazen pics of me during these past few days! Hurrah!

Back to the tents! Follow me on Twitter and enjoy the ride!

What I wore

Maje bright red top, Whistles trousers, Calypso vest, oldie but goodie belt, Marni, boots, Céline luggage tote, Zeffira necklace from Tru Grace, bracelets, Miriam Haskell, Cartier, Year of the Boar.  All photo credits by Michael Crook. Click here:

My look for Day Two of Fashion Week is on trend for what’s happening right now on the runways: I am seeing lots of bright reds– a continuation from Spring, high-waisted pants (more of that in the coming days), statement shoes (blocked heels and cap toes), and of course the statement bag. On that, the tents seem to be more of a Celine luggage party rather than a showcase for the designers, but gladly I chose a unique color that pops out the most. Red is a statement color for sure, but it is classic therefore an investment piece. The rest of my ensemble is pretty simple. I threw on loads of bracelets, sported the black Tom Ford specs, tweeted furiously on the iPhone till my  fingers were sore, and there’s Fashion week for ya. There’s more coming your way after I upload over 200 pictures to share.  For real time info, follow me on Twitter or instagram…xo

Mid-winter pick-me-up

Reality check, it’s Mid-January. Almost tax time, not quite Valentine’s Day, no snow, but you still need to keep warm. Although the weather is as fickle as the stock market these days, it is always better to be prepared. On a dreary grey day like this, all I really want to do is crawl into bed and watch movies. But fashion never hibernates. So…I’ll do my best to brighten your day (and mine) and wear a hint of pink. Pink is one of those colors that a certain kind of city girl, often seen in all-black Rick Owens, wouldn’t be caught dead in. That would include me. The Spring 2012 runways just may change my mind and your mind alike with designers like Jason Wu, Peter Som, and Jenni Kayne using pink in the most modern ways possible.

I’m not really a huge fan of functional dressing but it’s on days like these that demand that I stay on my feet, run around town and try to keep warm when common sense gets the better of me. So for those mid-winter days when open-toe stilettos threaten to make a foot frostbitten, I encourage you to take a look at the photos below for cozy alternatives that can be worn at Sundance or strolling around town.

As you can see, there are a chock full of bundled-up looks from this year’s Sundance Film Festival in Utah. I love spotting my favorite A-listers in luxe layered-up ensembles, shiny puffer coats, chunky colorful scarves, sleek booties, and more.

If Kate Bosworth, Naomi Watts, and Elizabeth Olsen’s cold weather chicness isn’t enough of an indication of how to dress in icier climates, look into your closet. That usually inspires my glam winter style.

Pink shirt, J. Crew. Sweater, Calypso. Jeans, Isabel Marant. Parka, Prada. Boots, Dominion Sheepskin boots. (gifted)

 Bracelets, Calypso, Chan Luu

By the way, check out my new Artemis Sheepskin boots. Handmade in New Zealand, they are comfy, cozy, and furry. Remember the Ugg vaccine post? These are no Uggs.

And if you are as inspired as I am, you can get most if not all of these wintry items on sale. If you find you are in the market for some no frills footwear, jump right over here for those sheepskin boots you know you have your eye on. They are as comfy as they look. Really.  For now! xo

What to Wear Now

What to wear now!

Six beach essentials for 4th of July holiday:

To commemorate the birth of our great nation, I  usually head to the beach for the long weekend to celebrate with friends and family.  After years of  Friday afternoon road trips to the Hamptons,  I know the routine like the back of my hand.  Always trying to dodge the traffic but always losing, I now make sure my ipod has fabulous music so I can get my car seat dance groove on.

What does this weekend have in store for you?
