Yellow, THE color of the season.
MiND YOUR OWN BEESWAX
Pantone declared yellow beeswax as the color of the Spring/Summer season.
So what’s the dealio?
Vibrant hues dominated the runways for Spring/Summer 2011 and yellow was the rule not the exception. When you think of yellow, summer, in all of its glory, comes to mind. Lemonade. Bright sunshiny days. Sunflowers. Hot buttered corn.
Think out of the box when it comes to this blinding hue.
Yellow in its infinite variations, from neon to metallics, and beyond is a must have tone for this season. Think laser lemon, marigold, and poppy.
Designers are abuzz about beeswax, a warm hue that was popular from Tibi and Betsy Johnson to Zara and Uniqlo. From the Italian powerhouses of Prada and Missoni came bold elements of this unabashed color incorporated into a retro-mod style that delves into a South American vibe, and 70’s kitschiness.
This shade is not easy to wear. The color that is trending is rooted in the summery nostalgia of the bright yellow sweet and sour gobstopper found in the local candy shop when we were kids. It isn’t soothing or sexy. Yet, it does draw the eye… and it gets the attention it craves.
Why yellow?
Golden yellow emits “feel good” emotions in our brain.
