Cool kicks

Come Spring, one shelf in my shoe closet gets the switcheroo from heavy boots to lightweight loafers, and ballet flats for those days that call for comfort and major running around. But that shelf seemed to be missing one category. I wouldn’t dare wear SNEAKERS, would I?  Besides the Isabel Marant Bobby suede wedge sneakers on Net-A-Porter? The answer is… yes.

Inspired by the incredible Alexa Chung, I tried out a bright red pair, and so far I can’t take them off my feet. The adorable TV presenter has the youthful, effortlessly cool, laid-back  je ne sais quoi that I am currently admiring. Signed on to be the new face and creative director of Italian footwear label Superga, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010, she is now modeling for their current ad campaign. Leave it to Alexa to help show just how chic it can be to team kicks with just about anything, i.e. Peter Pan-collared chiffon dresses, cut-off denim shorts, rolled-up jeans and feminine printed frocks. Watch those hip, young kids..they always know. I have had my eyes peeled on the grey cashmere Superga for The Row ever since they came out a while back, but unfortunately for me, every website has run out of my popular size. When I last clicked my mouse, the white seem to be available. Summer?
