Red Light
The color red always come around to haunt me this time of year, and it is about time I give red another chance. Admittedly, I’ve never liked red, nor worn much red (my closet speaks for itself) but when these Thakoon Red Metallic Crisscross Pumps came upon my desk last summer via Moda Operandi, I caved. Notice below the details: metallic red and patent leather with heels that resemble the curve of a women’s bod. I figured, metallic! Check. Strappy sexy for day or evening? Check. Curvy heels? Check. Red? On my feet? I wrote about them! Sold.
Fall’s kinky mood according to Thakoon’s show-stopping red, fuscia, and raspberry flavors, and hourglass curves on stick-thin models, showed dark romance with a kinky undercurrent. The result? A collection that is classically polished yet possesses a hint of something lurid and unsettling. Fabrics such as Mongolian fur, foiled knitwear, and crinkled patent leather were combined and constructed to create lady-like shapes with classic tailoring. BTW, Audrey Hepburn in her prime was on the mood board too.
And how about a close up of these red lips? We studied that erotic zone at the house of Prada.
The lustful feeling that red has the tendency to evoke is the inspiration for strong and sensual feminine elements which are woven throughout the collection. And now on my feet. That are red-hot.
And do I love Red-Hots…know what I mean?
