Dipped in Blue
Baby, its cold outside, and whether you like it or not, you’re body has to stay warm to shield us from the elements. Here’s the thing. As soon as the clocks Fall back, we have no choice but to cloak our bodies from now until March. A thin-blooded animal like me is literally freezing 24/7 so I am inclined to wear the most layers possible when outside, and then strip if necessary.
So I was excited to hear when fur, decadent colored fur, made such a strong statement on the Fall ’13 runways. Striped, dyed, embossed, and manipulated, the sheer amount of real animal fur I saw for this fall was more overwhelming than I can remember from seasons past. Look at Marni and Tom Ford. How about this Fendi charm? Or the bag ? I was game. Even better? Whether real or faux, fur made their way onto a range of coats, dresses, tops, and accessories. Forget the usual black and brown hues. A startling 70% of the designers who showed during fashion month used fur in at least one look, and fashion insiders, hello Anna Wintour, embrace the trend.
