I just came to say Hello

Hello Autumn in New York. As I write this, it is pouring rain – a really soggy, dark, dank day in New York. (Not a great day for leather my friends). This would be a great day for those HUNTER boots that I own and love so dearly. New York weather is so fickle.  Yesterday was just the opposite (sunny, bright and in the 68 degree range) when I did a fabulous photo shoot – the theme being 3 ways to wear the same leather dress? More on that post next week as I have to edit 200 photos.   I am on a brief hiatus from blogging and fashion for a few days (don’t miss me too much) and will have plenty to write... Read More

How to Wear Leather

Chic and stylish, leather is showing up everywhere and no longer just in the accessories department.  Leather is appearing on shirts, shorts, tops, dresses, and of course, jackets. With the plethora of styles showing up, (hello metallics, laser-cuts, colors, and trimmings) there’s a leather investment piece out there for everyone. No longer relegated  to some punkster’s wardrobe, now ultra feminine and glamorous women can get in on the leather craze too. Check out the clean sleek new lines from the following designers.          Worn with shorts or a skirt Or this great look…..   You don’t need a Harley  to jump on this season’s biker trend, but it sure wouldn’t hurt. Whether you pair yours with lace or spiked boots, you’ll have trouble making it... Read More

Fashion for a Cause

Fashionistas take cover… Fashion month is finally over, phew!  The Spring 2012 runway shows were in full swing in September, from New York to London, to Milan, and finally, to Paris. Many fashionistas, bloggers, buyers, and journalists alike are relieved to have a little respite in their calendars. For me, traveling fulfills my sense of adventure and wanderlust.  I am happy to report that there is nothing better for me than traveling to Paris to hunt for my favorite designers. Watching the shows via live feeds from Europe allows me to live vicariously through my twitter friends and European-based magazines as if I was right there. Shopping, in an unfamiliar place derives a sense of “I found it  first”. . . I know that fabulous... Read More

What to wear now

I have a hunch that you’re probably figuring out your fall wardobe right now—a tricky task for even the most seasoned shopper. Now that we are into October, (don’t let this Indian Summer trick you), it is time to look through your closet and determine what you have and what you need. Most of my favorite looks from the past runway shows are in stores now. As the weather begins to cool (believe me it will) and the leaves begin to turn it’s time to edit your look. This season I am taking my cues from the new Bravo Show Fashion Hunters. Whether it is a classic Chanel suit or this season’s hottest Jimmy Choo shoes, the Hunters follows the fashionistas at Second Time Around as they go out searching the attics,... Read More

Steve Jobs. Publisher and Innovator.

This week the world lost a visionary, an innovator and an inspiration. Steve Jobs’ brilliant creations filled our worlds with wonder; his faith in the future gave us hope for the present.  I felt this immense sense of loss this past Wednesday. I never met Steve Jobs, but he has been with me for most of my life and has ultimately changed it considerably. You probably feel the same way I do. Why do we feel this way?  Steve embodied what  America’s pioneering spirit is all about.  He was about making dreams come true. In other words, iCandoit.     I was having dinner with a friend when I learned about his passing on Twitter.  I had my own moment of silence. The glow that I normally get from my... Read More

Paris, France. Part deux

Day number two,  I stayed close to home and explored the chic boutiques of the Left Bank, starting at Isabel Marant, one of the hottest darling’s of today’s fashion scene. I had my eyes on a pair of pink jeans and fringe boots which I saw on the runways last spring, and they had finally reached the boutique. Trying to stay au courant, I snapped those up along with her infamous sided high top sneakers. I made an instant connection with the store manager and the staff, and loved how oh so stylish, skinny and Parisian those girls were.     I then headed to Jerome Dreyfuss where the fall collection was in full swing.  Yup, the one bag I had my eye... Chanel Spring 2012 Runway

For Spring 2012, Chanel debuted an under- the- water sea- scape  fantasy theme. And the clothes lived up to these magical expectations. There were sea shells, shine, pretty pastels, and pearls, comprised of a pale palette rich with iridescence and shimmer.  I especially love all of the shiny accents — silver booties, slick jackets, liquid maxi skirts, and metallic coats.  And my favorite of all, the sea shell clutch. Take a look at all of Lagerfeld’s confections for Spring here and get a whiff of effortless Parisian magic.

Paris France

Part 1. The French Connection. There is nowhere more magical than Paris. It is the City of Lights. It’s tempting to think that Paris is unchanged, that there is always a corner of the city where you can really catch a glimpse of Fitzgerald or Hemingway at Brasserie Lipp, or stumble across Miles Davis en route to Saint-Germain. But the truth is that Paris is a city of constant change. Paris is a even more enjoyable place to be in today. It is more relaxed, the hauteur has softened. There is a certain joie de vivre there. Yes, the past is still alive —with its grande dame hotels, fashion flagships, and Michelin-starred eateries, but many have undergone a contemporary redesign or simplified their style.... Read More
