Met Gala Who Wore It Best

Met Gala 2017 Affectionately referred to as “fashion’s Oscar night,” the Met Gala is the pinnacle of iconic style. A fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the event welcomes celebrity stars, young creatives, and industry paragons alike. The excitement doesn’t stop there — the gala also signifies the highly anticipated grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,” opening this Thursday, May 4th and offers a designated opportunity to play mad scientist with the boundaries of what we consider “fashionable” black-tie garb. Because the question on everyone’s mind is at the pinnacle of the evening. The Met Gala who wore it best. Met Gala Who Wore It Best Last night, the Met... Read More

Track Pants Trend

If there is one thing I love to do, its dressing up. Speaking of dressing up, The Met Gal is tonight. Who is tuning in? I will be live on instagram, sharing my favorite dresses form the night so be sure to stay tuned! I don’t get to dress up very often as my life as a freelancer and a mom keeps me writing in my home office, and prepping meals in the kitchen for the family. When it comes down to it, athleisure, a trend I poo-pooed for a very long time, has reached new heights. In fact, it is now the cool girls who leave their homes in track pants, leggings, sweatshirts, and sneakers. After ruling the runway for the past few seasons,... Read More

When the Shoe Fits

Shoes: Donald Pliner Bag: JW Anderson When the clouds finally stop sneezing and spitting, fashion actually comes to life. I am so ready to whip out my spring clothes and shoes, but not when I am sopping wet. As evidenced last week, and executed quite nicely this weekend, our so-called “spring” turned into a bleak February-like status. I wanted to break out those florals and open-toe sandals, but would not freeze on the the account of fashion. I don’t know what “fashion” with a capital F is anymore. Is it the industry itself that has changed? Or is it me? The definition is blurry. For me, creative expression takes the form of writing, styling, and clothing, an object that someone can wear. I had the... Read More

Neon Carnival

Wearing: Ellery jacket AG jeans Cotton Citizen sweatshirt Celine bag Fendi denim strap Isabel Marant boots   Is it just me, or is the future looking pretty bright?  Designers dipped their toes back into fluorescent waters for spring, both for day, and for night. Neon brights have rapidly infiltrated the fashion scene. While the high-wattage look may seem like a lot IRL, the brights can be turned down a notch by adding neutral-colored layers. What else works? You can also play with an athleisure vibe. See sneakers, socks, et al. I tested out the trend for Spring by wearing a neon sweatshirt paired with denim. You can wear these powerful shades without looking like a neon carnival, trust me. Denim works with neon because it is... Read More

Kind of Blue

This past weekend was the first time I saw the sun shining in a long time. Sunday was a glorious crisp Spring day, therefore I took advantage of the day’s progression at a slightly slower pace. I visited the Whitney Biennial, and heading over to my old stomping ground in Tribeca. I love city life but only when it’s perfect. It can be crowded and noisy when you are trying to get somewhere but on a Sunday, people crack a smile and life is much more pleasant. I have been feeling a kind of blue since the weather hasn’t cooperated since that day, hence adopting the look  in my wardrobe.  How to pull it together mid-week It’s been so interesting to me to see my style evolve... I was itching for a resolution of some kind, which always happens around this time of year because I never make resolutions in January. The weather is finally getting better, coming in at 60 degrees today, hurrah!, but it’s still too cold to dip into the bounty of tropical prints, wicker baskets and dramatic sunglasses that await us come summer. But it’s April, which is a big enough reason to  grab another coffee, and pull up a chair. It is time to start... Read More

Plaid Reborn this Spring

This season, I am on the hunt for anything besides floral prints. Tired of the hum drum standard plaids are for spring, florals are for spring mantra, I want the new new. Wearing fashion and declaring it your own is stepping a bit out of your comfort zone. Plaid is reborn this spring as designers are offering new playful takes on tops and trousers. From Gucci to Stella, the new style isn’t stuffy. Its playful, and adds a sense of humor and whimsey to any look. How to Wear Plaid in Spring It’s safe to say that plaid returns every season, and spring is no exception. The classic pattern feels fresh with its enlarged grid-like structure, windowpane, and small check versions. I paired this oversize... Read More

A Fashionistas Guide to Los Angeles

When it comes to travel, I love exploring places I have never been. In addition, I create extensive to-do lists and hit them hard. The act of conquering the unknown has always been a draw for me. On the flip side, going somewhere that I know well and have visited is fun and easy on the brain. I have been to Los Angeles over twenty times. At this point, the west coast holds a special place in my heart. The people are super friendly, a refreshing change from the East Coast vibe. I consider moving out to California several times of year because New York weather doesn’t cooperate with me, I need Vitamin D, hence am at a loss at what to wear. I pulled out... Read More
