Neutral Territory

Personal style isn’t about chasing all the top trends that are sent down the runway. Instead its about curating your own versions of the trends, making them a part of your arsenal, and making them work for you. Whichever trends you are to try, be roared to stand by them and be an original adopter. I am a big proponent of making this happen. For example, the trends now scream that the summer of the 70’s  is back in action and I adopt it accordingly. I have worn and loved those flared jeans way too many times to speak of, and know that the neutral color is in my color wheel. I love staying in the neutral territory. There are certain rights that come with knowing what looks... Read More

Label to Know

I was recently introduced to a new fashion label, The Fib Store. The brainchild behind the brand is Brazilian businesswoman Irma Alves. Irma is multi-talented woman who majored in International Relations in Rio De Janiero and received a Master’s Degree at the University Pierre Mendes Grenoble Fr., Advanced Diplomacy at Johns Hopkins, International Law, and sustainable development and clean energy in Geneva. But no, that wasn’t enough. Irma decided to to be a partner in the UN and diplomat of her own line of clothing, the Fashion Inclusive Brazil. As the Fashion Hunter, I am always on the hunt for a label to know, and when I met Irma I understood her passion. Here are 3 answers to the burning questions I had for Irma when... Read More

Seeing Stars

For a split second this spring, I was enjoying the warmish weather we were having. I stored all my woolens, cashmeres, angoras, and blends at the dry cleaners for the season. I pulled out my white and ivory dresses, white denim, shorts, and rainbow colored tees. Between the near 70-degree day and this week of 25-degree mornings of early April, the weather was starting to act a lot like an extreme dictator. My closet has become a war arsenal, battling the never-ending war of this odd weather pattern. During this irregular time, I like to equate getting dressed with an Etch-A-Sketch where I can essentially wipe out my look within an instant. Today, I put on four layers of black items and then took one off, wiped it... Read More

Ultimate Mothers Day Gift

Whether you’re treating her to a day at the spa, a chic pair of Spring flats, or a home-cooked meal, Mother’s Day is all about spoiling the special women in your life in the best way possible. For me, nothing says I love you more than a homemade meal, so why not treat mom to a delicious meal you put together yourself? My mother is a do-it-yourself type that gardens, dances, lifts weights, cooks, and knows how to have a good time. For her, a little thought goes a long way. When we spend time together, it’s almost always centered around the kitchen. Now that my kitchen has just finished a huge redo, there couldn’t be a more perfect time to host a quick and... Read More

The Must Have Jacket for Spring

Ahh, finally spring has arrived on the east coast! And with that comes a fury to clean out your closet, buy some trendy pieces, like these effortless bohemian tops, and update some of your timeless investment pieces. By now you should know the drill. As trends go, spring 2016 offers a bevy of choices from tie-front blouses, to bomber jackets, and lace-up sandals. Personally, I am a big fan of the bomber jacket, but don’t let me sway your opinion here. I am also always in favor of an investment piece, like this statement coat. Along with a great pair of jeans, you automatically have your outfit nailed when you walk out of the door. The look is fresh. You might initially think that a spring jacket would be, well,... Read More

In My Shopping Cart

There is nothing more that I hate than rainy days that end in, well, more rain. The only things the rain is good for besides nourishing crops and general hydration are: ruining hair, ruining suede, ruining commutes, ruining moods, ruining days. But not anymore! With the advent of exclusive shopping days and discounts, you can update your closet with the click of a mouse. I am constantly clearing out my closet for new stuff, and yes, its a constant exhausting game of adding and subtracting. I play a new game called add things in my shopping cart, leave the desk, and then go back to it an hour later. If the item is still there, it was meant to be. If not, there’s always more. Today...
