Winter Chill

Fashion Week in New York ended last week like it always does on the third Thursday of February following a Marc Jacobs show, but this season more than ever felt like the end. I ended up skipping some shows over the Valentine’s weekend, not because I don’t love my job, it was just so freaking cold that it seemed too complicated to get dressed. Fashion should be some sort of theatrical experience, or at least a joy to show off your style, and in this case I cast blame on myself for having the case of fashion week fatigue. I had outfits lined up that just never panned out due to fashion malaise. My look for the one or even two of the days was all black with a splash... Read More

New York Fashion Week Fall 2016 Day 1

As I write this, it is currently pouring buckets of rain…! I am so glad I don’t have many shows today and after a bitterly cold start to fashion week, I am happy to spend my time indoors keeping dry catching up on work and spending time with the kids. See my post below for my diary of New York Fashion Week Fall 2016 Day 1. On Day 1 of NYFW, I attended the Sachin and Babi and Jill Haber presentations. They were both amazing and very luxe! I hope you are following me on instagram @nyfashionhunter and snapchat @Thefashionhunter to see the videos and highlights of the shows. At Sachin and Babi, the Fall collection focused on stunning separates and evening wear. The charming lineup with... Read More

How To Get Salon Worthy Hair in Three Easy Steps

How to get salon worthy hair without going to the salon for help. I face this dilemma on a daily basis. My hair has never been my strong point, and unfortunately for me, bad hair genes run in my family. My beauty-slash hair maintenance program is fairly straightforward. I wake up and my baby hairs are twisted in many different directions except down. To combat this, I wet it and blast them with heat. I have been using a wand which has burned my forehead numerous times causing blisters on my face. I am addicted to keeping my baby hair right in the front, straight. This requires a lot of work not to mention the fact that my hair is damaged from using so many chemicals. I... Read More

Rincón, A Surfer’s Paradise

Last week I had at the ultimate pleasure of traveling to Rincón Puerto Rico, a surfer’s paradise, for a yoga, SUP (stand-up paddle) surfing retreat with JB Yoga. Rincon is a place like no other, an authentic surfing town. Case in point, I asked an aging hippie on the beach in Rincón, what makes this place different from any other surfing town? She told me that a local craftsman makes custom-made surfboards, and no, there is no website, no phone number. You have to just go there. “This is not Montauk,” she bellowed as if she knew I knew it all too well. Even our interaction was natural, uncanned. After spending just a few days there the mellow vibe felt distinctively superior to any surfer’s paradise I have ever... Read More
