A Day in the Life During New York Fashion Week

Now that New York Fashion Week has come and gone, it is important to note that the fashion train doesn’t stop. The first stop on the fashion bus was London with stops in Milan, and finally now, Paris. In some ways I enjoy the ride. The non-stop chaos, changing clothes more than twice a day, and seeing friends from both far and near. I don’t keep my daily regular dose of eating healthy food and exercise, but it’s only for a short while. And that’s a good thing. The bottom line is, it’s just fashion. And at the end of the day, you have to be able to laugh at yourself. Here is a day in the life during fashion week. 7:10 a.m. Rise and... Read More

Transitioning into Fall

I am ready for fall, but not ready to embrace the bulky sweaters quite yet. Just yesterday New York was a balmy 80 degrees, so I am taking advantage of wearing less while I can. This is one of my last summer in the city looks as fall is headed our way this week and my wardrobe will start the slow transition into Fall. I can embrace the crisp days, the beautiful foliage, and the bright colors of Fall. The Pantone color scheme tells a visual story of Fall with Marsala, Desert Sage, Dried Herb, and Oak Bluff as the key colors of the season. The only color that I am not fond of is Stormy Weather. No surprise there. I forgot how fresh a... Read More

Fashion Meets Tech

On the opening day of New York Fashion week, having a place to go where you can mingle with guests, learn about new products and grab a bite and a drink is always a good idea. Fashion and technology merged at the StylexTech event, where celebrity guests mingled with innovators in the style/tech space where brands like LG and Brother sponsored the event and showed off their new wares. Fashion and technology have come so far in the 21st century and and it’s even better when fashion meets tech in a more hands-on intimate setting. I was the resident LG “Stylist” where on display was the revolutionary new LG Styler clothing care system, which refreshes clothes at the touch of a button, without harsh detergents, providing an ideal solution for... Nymph Mood

Getting dressed for fashion week fills me with fear and dread. I pick out looks days, weeks, and sometimes I ponder what I am going to wear in August. It is seriously so much more pressure than getting ready for bed where I put on a T-shirt and boy shorts. That process is so streamlined and simple. Try as I might, I don’t like to wear outlandish clothes that scream Zoolander, so I wear what I feel comfortable and therefore confident. On day one of fashion week, on my birthday, I wore three things: this simple ethereal Dries Van Noten dress from the spring collection, white platform sandals, and a fringe bag. I was definitely in a nymph mood. Here lies the problem. If you... Read More

Still Summer

Summer doesn’t officially end until September 22nd, and even though Labor Day marks the official last day of summer, there are still going to be beautiful days, iced coffee, and sunsets to enjoy. With that said, even though white doesn’t ever go out of style, I am adding a few fall colors to my wardrobe. I am giving burgundy and olive green a chance to start the richer colors wheels turning in my head even if it’s still summer. Right before the fall season begins, I add some key pieces to my wardrobe that will last. Looking beyond just this upcoming season, right now is the best time to add some new!, because there are many sales going on right now. I especially like the Fall 2015 collection from Banana...
