Chanel Fall Winter 2015/16

Un petit déjeuner chez Chanel! A Chanel set is almost as exciting as the clothes themselves, and this season Karl Lagerfeld served up breakfast in a very French brasserie complete with waiters, models, VIP’s, all seated at white cloth tables. The collection was about the classic Chanel woman in every way, French to the core. Paris Fashion Week is still going strong with today being the most exciting day yet. There are many reasons why I wish I was in Paris right now and one of them is of course sipping au cafe at a that Brasserie watching the Chanel show. I’ll take what Karl’s having. Watch.

Fashion week is always so crazy, getting posts out are near to close impossible, and I spent some much needed R & R away in Miami this past weekend. I was hoping once fashion week was over, my hectic life would calm down, but no. I went to check out the Capsule show, was trying to schedule photo shoots, and life sometimes just gets too darn busy. Forget trying to fit in a food shop. I love pulling on a sleeveless turtleneck this time of year as... Read More

How to Get a Head Start on Next Season’s Trends

Fashion week isn’t all just about the clothes. As I mentioned here last week, it is the vibe – the music, the models, basically everything put together before it becomes a successful show. Then it’s a game of editors wanting to put the samples on their models, and retailers wanting to place bets on millions of dollars of merchandise to get the goods on their floor. It’s commerce in the fashion world to obtain the magic key to unlock consumer spending. It is also important that there is a cohesion among the designers to form a trend, and consumers will feel a sense of confidence and know what to buy. Right now, its quite obvious that the bohemian movement is back, just go to your... Read More

The New Gucci

As I scrolled through these images from the new collection over at Gucci, I am not sure how I feel about it. “It is not very easy to try to do something different,” said Gucci’s new creative director Alessandro Michele backstage after his first womenswear show for the house. Judging from the show, there are a lot of mixed reviews to take such an established house and turn it on its head. The new Gucci girl is an ingenue with an eccentric side, one who looks as though she’s picked out her clothes at vintage stores, and mixed them magpie-style with handfuls of heirloom rings, chunky rimmed glasses, the occasional pompom hat, and fur-lined horse-bit loafers. As playful as it was, I think it lacked sophistication,... Read More

Cozy Camel

In the rut of winter, it is hard to look at your wardrobe and want to put on anything but black or grey every single day. It’s easy, it works, and it is the perfect formula for a simple uniform. But sometimes you need to shake things up. Lately, have been moving towards a lighter palette of off-white and camel. The two colors go so nicely together, and are easy for anyone to wear. But how ? 1. Throw on an ivory sweater or top, pair it with a pair of off-white jeans, throw on a vest for added texture, a camel coat, a fedora, and add a pop of color for an accessory. I chose this electric blue bag which definitely makes a statement.... Read More

Timo Weiland Fall 2015

Fashion shows are not just about the clothes. The clothes are just a part of the whole picture. There are the models, the space, the music, and the vibe. If everything goes smoothly, the show is a success. I can count on one of my favorite designers and friend, Timo Weiland, to always get this right. I headed over to Pier 59, to catch a glimpse of his vision for fall, and his take on everyday dressing. The music was on point, the venue was just right, and at 9am, I enjoyed hiding away from the cold streets below. But about those clothes. Striped bombers, chunky grey wool beanies, sweatshirts, and pencil skirts in pops of lilac, the collection was totally downtown chic, without trying... Read More

Red Carpet Roundup

To do a full recap on Oscar night would take up too much of your Monday, so I am going to make this roundup short and sweet. If there is ever a time to really go for it, the glitz, the showstoppers, and the pageantry, it’s the Oscars. The most glamorous night of the year is the perfect opportunity for Hollywood to show us what they’re made of and this year I was far from disappointed. I have consulted with Jill Kirsh, Hollywood’s Hue Guru on her thoughts on what got a thumbs up from the night. Here are our top five picks. Who killed it? Jennifer Lopez took the plunge, again killing it with that Elie Saab Haute Couture number that showed off her ample... Read More
