Print Scapade

This has been one of the best summers, mostly because of the sensational weather. But there is a nip in the air and it feels like Fall and back to school, are right around the corner. With that in mind, its time to edit my closet and move aside the summery florals. Now is the time for punchier, wackier prints to take center stage. Geometrics, swirls, crazy python prints, and multicolored digital mashups vow to keep this Fall weather feeling decidedly upbeat. I am normally not a print lover but I love the take on this dress, the green and blue python-inspired Champs-Élysées dress featured below by Cluny. I have a feeling that I will continue my love of flats going forward as well. Cluny... Read More

End of Summer Uniform

I went Fall shopping yesterday. It was a mini disaster, not because there wasn’t a huge selection of choices, but because I am not ready to indulge in mustard-colored sweaters, dark florals, and other fall favorites quite yet. I am a summer girl at heart and am still relishing the late summer sun before the autumnal breezes start coming in. With fashion week coming up and leisurely summer weekends ceasing, I decided this past weekend to really check things off my summer to-do list. Things like replacing white sheets and towels for fresh ones, sorting through that huge pile of mail, and deep apartment cleaning. But before I bid summer adieu, here is what I will miss. 1. Climbing out of the freezing cold ocean. 2. Exercising and then eating... Read More

Code White

End of summer = code white. I have been wearing white as planned the entire month, enjoying these blissful long summer days and end-of-August evenings, pairing stripes, or denim digs into my look. I wish I could extend the season, but I haven’t cracked the code on how to stay in white dresses past September. If you find a way, please alert the media. When putting on said white summer dresses, I feel like such a lady, so I always make sure there’s something boyish in my look. I felt the urge to pair my white dress with white sneakers to add a playful element. See how to achieve this below.   Zara dress // SUPER sunglasses // Harvey Faircloth clutch // Saint Laurent sneakers    ... Read More

Summer Baubles

If there is anything I have learned about summer, is that it is short-lived. It occurred to me yesterday morning when I went to take a walk in my neighborhood, I was experiencing a textbook case of bittersweetness. August signifies heat and humidity, and after the winter we endured, I marveled in the fact that my fingers were ballooning as the humidity expanded their width. It is already mid-August which means September is right around the corner. And fashion week! Until that circus, I am reveling in the fact that my legs flap around in shorts, my neck is exposed to the sky, and my wrists, legs, ankles, and lobes are just letting loose. In an attempt to keep summer long-lived, I will wear things that scream... Read More

Recycling The Goods

It’s Wednesday morning, happy hump day! and I am fresh out of ideas of what to wear. The paradox of summer ease is in how difficult it becomes to remove yourself from the black hole that is comfort, wear what I have been wearing every single freaking day, a T-shirt and some form of denim to avoid that inevitable thought that is 100% inaccurate: I have nothing to wear. Instead, I am combining reliable looks that I have worn previously,  and will tango with the thought that I will copy myself. I will wear looks that I have previously put together, verbatim. BORING? No, not quite. My body is tired of shopping, WHAT? and my mind is bored, (I’m reading my books) that is until the weather starts... Read More

The Dog Days

I tried a social experiment on myself over the weekend, which was to reclaim my life before the smartphone took it over. At first, it was difficult to combat, as my blog, is in a constant state of motion. I am incessantly checking my instagram feed, and keeping on the fashion world’s radar, enough to make your head spin. But as the hours went by, my third limb slowly disappeared and become part of my habitué. I almost forgot my phone was there. Well, almost. Without being attached to my phone I was able to: 1. Converse with people and open up my ears even more. 2. Surf. 3. Read. The onset of August means only one thing: Fashion month is near. But until then, it’s time... Read More

Fit To Be Tied

There have been so many times when I wish my laced-up sneakers didn’t have laces. They hang loose until I inevitably trip, I turn a nice shade of black and blue, and the rest is history. What would I wear instead? Not slides, not slip-ons. Sneakers are laced-up for a reason, to hold your feet in place. It’s so much easier to tie a top than a shoe, right? Remember the tie front shirt? If you vividly remember the 90′s like I do, the tie front shirt trend feels like a bit of a déjà vu. I did own several in gingham. When undone, it looks like you have two rabbit ears hanging from the hem of your shirt, but when tied, the tie front shirt... Read More

Currently Craving

There is nothing better than refreshing my wardrobe on the world wide web. The process leaves me with inspiration as to how to update my wardrobe without having to actually purchase anything. The feeling that I can leave it there, walk away, and dream is priceless. I will revisit these another time when I realize that a pair of black snake-embossed espadrilles would only enhance my denim digs. Happy Friday! Get the look above here and click on those photos! Maison Martin Margiela silver cuff // rag & bone T-Shirt // Dior black polish // Levi’s denim shirt // Alexander Wang pinstripe boxer shorts // Penelope Chilvers  snake-embossed espadrilles // woven scarf // Sophie Bille Brahe bracelet // Vince leather scuba jacket
