On Two Wheels

It’s summer, it’s hot, and the subway sucks. Out of the malarial-infested petri dish and onto the streets we go. That is just one reason I need to escape the dark tunnels and  sweaty bodies of the tunnel culture. The best dressed pedal pushers out there are riding the Citi Bike.. or for those daring enough, the motorized 2-wheeler. When asked last week to write a story for Vespa’s blog, VespaVita, how could I resist? I can’t deny my love for the Vespa and here’s why. For as many years as I can remember, I begged my parents for a street bike. It probably had a lot to do with my New York City upbringing and having to shuffle my body from place to place using... Girly

Summer is in high gear and after my recent trip to St. Barth, I have a slight craving for anything in the light pink or peach family, everything girly and floral little nothings. The lifestyle there is oh so French, where the locals ride their Vespa or bikes to the market to pick up déjeuner, a baguette, and ride to the beach with their floppy hats displaying scantily clad bikinis. Aprés beach, there is always time for a refreshing glass of rosé, and evenings are reserved to get together with friends. I do love summertime and all the things that come with it which includes a sense of joie de vivre. And the French, they know how to do it right. As far as sartorial choices,... Read More

High Waisted

Summer Fridays are a time when most of us get out of work early, or at least try to, and bolt out town. I know because I am one of the masses. Especially this week when its been unbearably hot. I know I cannot wait to jump in the pool, relax by the beach, and just chill out. So I bet you’re wondering what to wear in the depths of your closet that will take you from office, to train or car, straight to a BBQ without looking too underdressed (no jorts please). How about a pair of high-waisted shorts? Frankly, I can’t even fathom wearing anything but simple, no-more-than-two-piece white ensembles. Today on NY Fashion Hunter, we continue our study of Five Foot Fridays, Part 2... Read More

Citrus

Although Emerald Green is edging out almost every category on the color wheel, with Monaco Blue, and Nectarine a close second, my running favorite is still Lemon Zest. Not everybody’s favorite, lemon yellow just speaks of summer, lemonade, and happy days, and I do love my yellow overalls. Add this striking canary yellow as an addition to white, my summer neutral, or black if you so desire. Yellow serves as the ultimate compliment. Use this guide below as a reference point, all links are shoppable, when using those neutrals as home base. Whether it’s a candle, a bag, or those incredible Flo pumps I am pining for, get it now. Summer is always the quickest season on the calendar..try to make the most out of the... Read More

The Jumpsuit

As the blogosphere gets more crowded with both women and men claiming their turf as the next street style sleuth, it’s important to stake your claim, find a niche market, and make it your signature élan to claim a piece of internet real estate. When most jaw-dropping looks come staggering down the runway, the regular gal will shrug it off as too expensive, not lifestyle appropriate, and possibly, that none of that hoopla would fit an average gal. It’s high time to change that. Today on NY Fashion Hunter, I bring you Five Foot Fridays, the start of a summer series, for those of us blessed with everything but vertical stature. For petite women (and American fashion defines us as women below 5’4″), petite apparel does not have to mean... Read More

Travel Light

When I travel in the summer months to any warm weather destination, I tend to pack less. Any savvy traveler knows that when heading to any place other than the Hamptons, there are massive sales on beachwear. Especially in the Caribbean. I love wearing white as you know, and certainly adding black makes great company. Splashing in the waves, sunbathing, or chilling après-beach constitutes a mellow vibe no matter how you slice it. I like my beachwear very simple, flattering, clean, modern and above all, comfortable. Below is a collage of some of my favorite things out there in the world-wide web and seven key pieces that you will need for your summer scrapbook. Pull back your messy beach hair, grab your favorite book, and get packing. Here’s... Read More

Pop!

Photo: Michael Dumler Ahhh..summer! I hope everyone had a fantastic 4th of July holiday. I spent most of the time poolside, with family and friends, and indulging on my favorite summery treats. I channeled my patriotic spirit by wearing pops of red white and blue, in the accessory department and on my nails, and kept to an all white palette for evenings. Chloé pleated shorts, 3.1 Phillip Lim clutch, get a similar one here, or this by Club Monaco, and bracelets by Venessa Arizaga and Mono & Me.  Jennifer Zeuner hand chain. Get the look here. I didn’t post many selfies as I didn’t want my iPhone in the ocean or filled with sand, and more importantly, my hair remained in a beachy knot for five straight days and couldn’t... Read More
