Lemon Zest

When you think of summer you think of a cold beer, a glass of rosé, and a refreshing glass of lemonade. It’s hot, you’re in a good mood, and the long holiday is fast approaching. What a better way to celebrate the season of sunshine than throwing on a pop of yellow? As Jonathan Adler says in his book Happy Chic Colors “One yellow Gerber daisy in a bud vase = Prozac for your pad.” Known this season by its Pantone ID of Lemon Zest, the runways were full of this bold hue, (See Stella McCartney, Erdem, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana‘s lemon pants!) which I personally love. If you recall I posted about the bold color yellow back in January when I was “feeling blah” went ahead purchased... Read More

Tote It

Ah, the 4th of July is quickly approaching…the celebration of Independence, freedom, summer barbecues and, of course, heading to the beach. Summertime, you are a benchmark for so many things. ‘Tis the season of road trips, tan lines, and ridiculously muggy commutes home. Summer pros? Surfing lessons, lighter hair, and loads of  Vitamin D. Summer cons: shaving your legs daily, reapplying that sunscreen, and the constant schlepping back and forth. Summer-wear in the concrete jungle is a fun one to watch in a city like New York. Heavy denim is replaced by maxi dresses, and wearing blazers becomes dated, claiming bikini tops as the outfit method of choice. Let’s leave those bikini tops for the beach shall we? and in the same breath pull out the bags appropriate for... Read More

On My List

I found this bracelet pop up in a photo gallery yesterday, and I am craving its easy simplicity. Reminiscent of the renewed sense of modesty that marched down the runways in Paris, I want to wear it as a statement choker this summer. Styled with a simple white dress, summer dressing doesn’t get any easier. Eddie Borgo Gold-plated buckle bracelet Launched in 2008 alongside a collection for Phillip Lim’s SS09 show, Eddie Borgo’s eponymous label won him the CFDA Swarovski Award for Innovation in Accessory Design in 2011. Fusing geometric costume-jewellery shapes with wearable, modern styles, his line is ideal to throw on with anything.

Lone Ranger

Dressing in the summer in anything that is not going to stick to you, be smelly and revolting by end of the day, is a hard act to follow. In extreme heat, high heel sandals promote blisters and stepping in whatever is vile, and Havianas are no better (albeit more comfortable). I have therefore decided to show up and dress for the occasion. Inspired by the upcoming release of The Lone Ranger, starring..can you say super hot Johnny Depp!, I am loving the laid-back casualness, and southwestern chicness of Kate Bosworth’s style and basically anything that involves a bit of a western vibe. The fictional masked ex-Texas Ranger, first captured American audiences over the radio, and if I recall, The Lone Ranger and Tonto fought hard... Read More

All White

Summer has arrived, and the city is bloody hot. Just in time for the heat wave, I was looking for the perfect dress and I think I found it. Lightweight and intended as a coverup, this will keep me cool and ready to take on a New York summer. Catch the wave. SUPER Basic sunglasses, Jennifer Zeuner I Heart U ring set, Jennifer Zeuner Curved Bar with diamond, Melissa Odabash white maxi dress on sale! for $178, House of Harlow Dylan clutch, and in the southern region, NastyGal Romana Gladiator Sandal, because you know how much I love gladiators.

Tie it On

Historically speaking, gladiator sandals symbolize the style of shoe or boot that gets wrapped around an ankle or a calf harking back to the ancient Romans trained to fight with weapons against other men or wild animals. In today’s context, although you can consider New York a jungle of sorts, there are no wild animals or humans to fight in the city. Our jobs have become more or less nondescript, and we are fighting a different battle every morning: getting dressed. Summer has arrived and to make our lives easier most of us want to throw on a dress or a cool pair of shorts to start the day. Today on the Fashion Hunter, I decided to take the challenge of the gladiator sandals to... Read More

Summer Jewelz

Although the official start of the summer isn’t for a few days, it’s getting hot outside. I know this because I changed my outfit a few times yesterday, forfeited the use of anything other than a lightweight dress as the infestation of sweat glands permeated my clothing. If my clothes are not going to be making a splash on a minute-to-minute basis, opting for a more practical T-shirt and short, then let some colorful jewelry speak for itself. And who wouldn’t want to make a summertime splash in the form of a smily face equipped with eyes, ears, and lips? Although statement accessories might seem clunky when its hot, opting for dainty things, file this one under…bright summer colors to make your daily dress code... Read More

On Graduation

There’s a disease that takes over college and even high school seniors every year. It’s not fatal and in some instances not even harmful — but, see, the trouble is that it can be. What is it, you ask? Senioritis. It’s that seasonal phenomenon when seniors everywhere are literally counting down the days (minutes) till graduation. Are they ready to be official “adults”? (This would mainly apply to those graduating from a 2 or 4-year college as high school graduates are just about to take on 4 more years of university life). With diplomas in hand or just about to receive them, preparedness for entrance into the “real world” isn’t all that simple. Now that graduation is upon us (them), such a momentous occasion calls for... Read More
