In shoe news

So many shoes, so little money time. As a busy blogger, fashion stylist, and mom, it is challenging to walk around in 5-inch heels all day without feeling the pain on my feet and occasionally, in my wallet. My new way of shopping, which is very beneficial, is when I see something I love, I walk away from it, think about it, and ponder the shopping addiction waves running through my brain. The thought process goes something like this: what is the damage to my credit card (usually terrible) and will these shoes fit my closet? ( Yes, I will sell ). So I wait. And I return back to the store or the website. It was these pair of shoes below that got me going... Read More

Dressing for Coachella

SENSI STUDIO hat, Calypso St. Barth coverup, Céline sunnies Let’s set the scene: Nonstop music. Sunny desert skies. Crowds of people singing along with the Arctic Monkeys. Friendship bracelets up and down your wrist. Daisies in your hair. Yes…this is the stage for Coachella and if you are booked to attend in the upcoming weekends, I thought a post on what you should be wearing might help. It’s not genius, its a more practical guide. Not going? Don’t fret, I’m not either. Regardless, you can use theses tips for any type of fun outdoor festival in the coming spring and summer months. Here I am not quite at Coachella, but with my wildly colorful tribal bag and arm candy, you get the gist. C’mon let’s... Read More

Think Pink

I am truly not a big fan of wearing pink and I never was. Even back in high school times, I never liked the color on me, just on my Barbie dolls or my Bazooka bubblegum. Although, I do admire things that are pink like the recent pastel looks on the runways, or the pink sands of the Bahamas. I was just in the land of pink sand, pink clouds, pink houses, pink golf carts– yes I just came from Harbour Island, where everything from exterior paint color to ice cream is a dip-dyed pastel hue of mint green, baby blue, and golden yellow. And pink. In honor of the Easter Bunny’s arrival on Sunday, I thought I would throw down a sugary post in... Read More

Beach ready

The last time I took a proper beach trip was a while ago–possibly two Christmas seasons ago— and my suitcase was filled up with summer snazzies for an extended weekend give or take 2 days. I am heading to the Bahamas where the sand is pink, the sky is blue, the water is turquoise. Here is what I have learned. The key to packing for the beach is simple is to keep it light. Basically it goes like this: you wake up, go to the beach, stay at the beach till 5pm, shower and go out to dinner in a beachy town. Nobody gets dressed up for anything. Not much thought should go into it. It’s important to focus on the accessories, a few bottles... Read More

Cool kicks

Come Spring, one shelf in my shoe closet gets the switcheroo from heavy boots to lightweight loafers, and ballet flats for those days that call for comfort and major running around. But that shelf seemed to be missing one category. I wouldn’t dare wear SNEAKERS, would I?  Besides the Isabel Marant Bobby suede wedge sneakers on Net-A-Porter? The answer is… yes. Inspired by the incredible Alexa Chung, I tried out a bright red pair, and so far I can’t take them off my feet. The adorable TV presenter has the youthful, effortlessly cool, laid-back  je ne sais quoi that I am currently admiring. Signed on to be the new face and creative director of Italian footwear label Superga, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010, she is now modeling for... Read More

Beyond the barre

Hi friends! We have all been there: New Years Resolutions start off with the best of intentions yet come and go. This being late-March, I wanted to get into those tiny little bandeaus for Spring just last week when summer made a brief appearance, yet my winter body wasn’t quite ready. I was ripe for a quick makeover. The spring weather is so inspiring –I want to jump into those skimpy frocks that are waiting impatiently in my closet. I am not a big believer in diets and fads, nor was I going to commit to any program or regime just for the sake of fashion. As it turns out, my sugary habits went a little haywire this past winter (blame the Sweedish fish) and I needed... Read More

A sneak peek for Fall with Factory PR

Betsey Johnson studded shades, J.Crew shirt, Cut25 vest, RomyGold Jake Stud Clutch. Photo Michael Crook Last week, (when it was warm, note the silly smile on my face), I went up to the Factory PR showroom for a Fall 2012 preview of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories. It was set up in a beautifully well-lit loft in Soho, a quiet haven up above the street fray. Some of the designers that were well-represented were Ruthie Davis, Poleci, Adore Me, (a new personalized Lingerie Club.. woo hoo!) Black Halo, (loved by celebrities) Camilla Skovgaard, (one of my fav shoe designers), Benson, John Fluevog, Foley+Corinna, RomyGold, Taverniti, and Miansai. The collections are #totesamaze! In true fashion blogger-style, I hunted around the office with my iPhone in hand for... Read More

Absoleggy Fabulous for Spring

Hashtag #Absoleggy. I just made up my own word. Definition: a term used to describe a person with toned abs and long luscious legs. I am about to drop the bomb on you. The proper lady-like à la 1960’s suburban housewife trend is back in fashion, as you know by now, with longer hem lines, proper suits, retro florals, and mules that scream Spring 2012. On the contrary, lingerie was also central element. Here’s the bomb. It came in the form of bandeaus, and old-fashioned bloomers. These are proposed underpinnings for dressy stretch satin skirtsuits—or delicate, lacy slip dresses but are now worn solo. I am usually not daring enough to whip out my bra and drop my pants just for fashion’s sake and wear nothing... Read More
