London calling

I have an Anglophilic bug right now, actually more like Royal Fever. I just returned from the UK for the the long holiday between Christmas and New Year’s and am a little obsessed over everything British. That includes the coolest designers Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith, Joh Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, John Richmond, Matthew Williamson, to name a few. Although similar to New York, London is not as gritty, but rather more refined and proper. Similar to tweeting rather than sending a note on handwritten stationary. It is one of the world’s most creative cities and I can see how anybody would want to reside there including me and The Duchess Kate Middleton.       The London fashion hunter saw plenty of sales going... A new start for 2012

Happy New Year! Did you make a resolution yet?  I did. I revisited last year’s resolutions, and while I cannot rewrite what was written in the books, I can rethink how to make a new chapter, and make this a great year. My New Year’s resolutions for the forthcoming year are as follows. 1. I want to be more spontaneous. You know…more passport stamps, more movies with friends, have more fearless moments. It goes like this: I can wear that, go there, write that, fly there, meet wherever. 2. I want to be more productive and set small goals for the week. How to do this? Being on a European clock doesn’t hurt. Early to bed, early to rise. Big resolutions never work out for... Read More

Happy Holidays from my Inbox to Yours

As I write this, I am burning the midnight oil and packing for my trip to London. Cheerio! I am looking ahead to the week after Christmas, after all the gifts are unwrapped, Christmas trees laying on the curbside, Hanukah candles melted down, and relatives from near and far having returned home. I will be peppermint latte and gingerbread cookied-out for sure. What about New Year’s Eve?  Glittery sequined dress for the Fashion Hunter?  Not so sure I am going all out. I will be the London Fashion Hunter for the week. I will probably wear a grey blazer with a mini-pouf sequined-flecked skirt, tights and booties with clutch in hand, and blast out the final eve of 2011. London-style. Can’t forget the glittery eyelashes.... Read More

The Ad Campaigns of Spring 2012

Tis’ the season for holiday giveaways. You thought I would be singing “chestnuts roasting on an open fire”  through this computer..but I’m not. Rather, I am looking at all the eye candy that is happening on my television screen whetting the appetite for Spring. Yes, today is the shortest day of the year as it is the Winter Solstice. But what makes Spring even more enticing is that the days are only going to get longer. Yes, fashion is a mind game. When its freezing outside, there are bikinis in store and vice versa. The Spring Ad campaigns are rolling out right about now and here are some of my favorites. I especially like Louis Vuitton campaign shot by Steven Meisel. What is your favorite?... Read More

Hands on

Are you addicted to your mobile phone? I know I am. There are times I can’t get off my iPhone for many reasons: to edit a blog post, approve comments, log onto Twitter, check my email, answer a Facebook question, just to name a few. It only took glove manufacturers ’til nearly  2012 to come up with “texting” gloves, so now I don’t have to peel off my gloves to ping somebody from my iPhone or iPad. Fashion labels from Michael Kors to Rag and Bone have finally jumped onto this and solved the arduous task of tweeting in the freezing cold. Here are my new hot pink C. Wonder fingers. These mobile mitts have been popping up all over runways and in stores just... Read More

A NY Fashion Hunter Holiday Giveaway

Tis’ the season for giving and there’s nothing better than receiving a gift. Right? From me to you as a holiday gesture, a toast to my readers, the NY Fashion Hunter is giving you the chance to enter a special one-time only giveaway. I honestly wish I could give gifts to each and every one of you this holiday season (like an unlimited credit limit to Barneys NY) to thank you for your kindness, support and participation all year long, but since that’s, well, entirely impossible, enjoy the Ho Ho Ho right here. So consider this your Hanukah/Christmas/Kwanzaa hybrid present and start screaming with joy. I have joined with the online boutique sneakpeeq for this awesome contest. The instructions are as follows. 1. Redirect your... Read More

Layering 101

I have yet to show up at an event naked, but it takes some brain work to get from shower to closet to what am I going to wear today to fully dressed to deciding on my location du jour.  I started this not so skillfully mined layering story with one piece in mind, the DKNY cape dress, the LBD. As plain jane as it may seem, it’s anything but. Simple, yet so much more. Its the perfect segue to the wonderful world of accessorizing. A black sleeveless crepe dress with long slits down the side. Worn just on its own I’d look like a nun.. well let’s not go there. The real reason I featured this dress is because it’s so practical, it screams... Read More

Crushing on Red

Whoever made up the rule that red should worn only during the holiday season hasn’t a clue of what’s happening on the runways and in the hotest boutiques these days. December is in full swing blazing full throttle into 2012, but red is here to stay. Santa or no Santa. Red is reserved for those with no fear- bold  fashionistas that want to make a statement in the fashion department without looking back. So this is an ode to RED. It is a glittery holiday giveaway. Red is daring. Red is sexy. Red is sophisticated. Any of the said definition is true. Last night on my way to a holiday event, I wore a L’Agence sheer black blouse paired with red J Brand leather jeans, Dsquared2 leather jacket and suede booties. So spirited!... Read More
