Holiday Mood for the 4th of July

It’s the July 4th holiday and you know what that means. As a matter of fact, you will hopefully be spending time away from the daily duties of your to-do list, but instead with family and friends. Even if the holiday occurs mid-week. Whether you will be baking a pie, working on BBQ task duty, jumping in a lake, or chilling out on a beach, you will be out of office. And I mean that in a contextual way, where you are officially not at your desk, not thinking about anything work-related. Not to mention the hot sales that are happening right now, in which case, you could be online shopping. Either way, you are equally unfazed. Because you will be out of office, and in need of a mental and physical vacation from it all. The holiday mood for the 4th of July is anything but boring. I will be heading out east to my happy place – the beach – to spend time with family and friends.

Concoct a Dessert
I have been inspired to bake for the upcoming holiday and thinking about making a mixed berry trifle. First of all, it’s patriotic to mixed blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries together because it reps the American flag. Secondly, who doesn’t love a yummy dessert? With only five ingredients, the result is a gorgeous sculptural delight. Find the recipe here.
Watch the Fireworks
Despite the fact that I watch the fireworks every year, I still love watching them. Fireworks remind me of my youth and all the firework extravaganzas I used to attend. Because it wouldn’t be the same without them.
Read a good book
I have about 50 books on my reading list for summer. In contrast to that list, I will probably get through a few of them, no more. Instead of worrying about how many books I am going to finish, I am going to be mindful of the one that I am reading now, which is apropos to this sentiment. The Most Fun we Ever Had. Which is excellent I may add.
If you take the time off to relax, I guarantee you will head back to work next Monday sharp and ready to roll up your sleeves to start where you left off. The clean slate is a metaphor, but for a little peace of mind, it actually works!
Cheers to a long and languid holiday!
