How to Style A Shirtdress
Sometimes, it’s all in the details. While there are a multitude of dress trends I am coveting for spring, I am falling for a simple style that’s far from new: the belted shirtdress. With a built-in method for creating the illusion of a cinched waist and a timeless, vintage-inspired silhouette, the combination has proven itself to be a universally flattering on all body types. One of my go-to looks for spring, a shirtdress is stylistically appealing on all body types. At times, I struggle with wearing them because sometimes they aren’t a dress nor a shirt, but something in between.
But belted shirtdresses have come a long way from the poplin standard of their past. Now, there are bold color options, plunging necklines, mini skirt and bell sleeve duos, and midi-length styles in silk from head to toe. Basically, it’s 2018’s emerging “throw on and go” winner in my book. Not sure how to wear them? Stay tuned below for how to style a shirtdress.

Shirt dresses often come with a fabric belt already built in. I switched mine out for a leather belt which adds more definition to my waist. I paired my shirtdress with a vintage pair of denim, and topped off the look with a pair of fuchsia flats. Because spring is such a short season, it is the time to optimize your spring wardrobe.
