Some of the wildest prints out in the fashion jungle come straight from mother nature. And from Paris. This photo caught my eye yesterday as I was perusing the other jungle, the wild world of the internet. Dots and ferns and florals and zebras…oh yes! My take on this inspirational look? Combine those wild prints. All of them. Maybe even stripes! Don’t be afraid to push the proverbial envelope when it comes to prints. This upcoming fall season especially, it’s all in the sartorial mix. Mix, mix, mix. And finally, accessorize! The most recent fall collections suggest that handbags be held– regardless of size– in your hand. The ideal options are slouchy but not too unstructured, tucked under the crook of your arm. Fashion week, as you may know, is literally around the corner, and on my wish list is one of these bags. I want to hold a minaudière, but I’m not sure that will work for me during NYFW. Why you ask? I also have to carry my iPhone (duh), and shlep the power cord as the ubiquitous phone will run out of batteries in a matter of hours. Regardless, it is a great look. And isn’t that what matters most? BTW, I did buy the Phillip Lim messenger bag to feed the whims of the Fashion Hunter. For me and countless others, it’s the street style that turns heads and most likely makes copycats out of us fashion bloggers. But hey, that’s the beauty of real life instant photojournalists who make a living from doing just that. Designers copy bloggers, who copy editors, who copy street looks, who copy designers, etc, etc, etc. It’s a non-stop cycle.
In any case, I’m prepping for Fashion Week now, and getting my mixology skills ready to try my hand at print mixing. I am crushing on the midnight satin-silk clutch below by Alexander McQueen. In a tulip print, it is hashtag totes-amaze. Would you give this a thumbs up or thumbs down?
