Mad for Plaid
The dog days of summer aren’t over (kids aren’t home from camp) yet my inbox is filled with wooly and dark things that want to get onto my sweaty body. Among the sheep-inspired weaves, one of my favorite fall trends, plaid, has blown up in a big way. By blown-up I mean OVERSIZED. While plaid is nothing new, designers are kicking up the classic pattern a few notches. Marni, Michael Kors, and Stella McCartney, are among some of the designers ripe to take on the Burberry check. Lo and behold the mainstream designers will snap this up as back-to-school preppy plaids reign supreme. As far as I’m concerned, these plaids will be staples in your wardrobe for months to come so you may want to check (haha) my checks below for a little Fall inspiration. August is right around the corner, Net-A-Porter has its Fall issue up on the internet (see here), so enjoy the fall edition while it’s hot. Note below I substituted the dainty kitten heel for the lace-up bootie as it adds just the right edge to the look. For accessories, I suggest going for a simple black and diamond wrap ring, or for more of a statement, go for the stache.
All looks left to right top to bottom: Michael Kors leather bodice dress, Alice and Olivia Pam collar poncho, Donna Karan plaid taffeta skirt, Repossi black and diamond ring, Giuseppe Zanotti lace-up sandals (on sale on Net-A-Porter), Topman mustache pinky ring
My favorite? The wool-blend poncho with removable a raccoon hair collar (seen above) with just the right amount of fringe. Too cool for school? Don’t think so.
