Neon Carnival

Is it just me, or is the future looking pretty bright?  Designers dipped their toes back into fluorescent waters for spring, both for day, and for night. Neon brights have rapidly infiltrated the fashion scene. While the high-wattage look may seem like a lot IRL, the brights can be turned down a notch by adding neutral-colored layers. What else works? You can also play with an athleisure vibe. See sneakers, socks, et al. I tested out the trend for Spring by wearing a neon sweatshirt paired with denim. You can wear these powerful shades without looking like a neon carnival, trust me. Denim works with neon because it is a staple everyone has in their closet, and tones down the look. Therefore, you will not be blinded by the light.

Greenery

When Pantone introduced Greenery as the color of 2017, that zesty yellow-green hue brought to mind tropical flora as quickly as it does the color of my wallpaper growing up in the early aughts. No graphic tee, or party dress was safe from the electric lime green. I want to embrace this color green as it is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.

At first, this particular shade in’t your cup of tea, don’t fret. I tracked down the other colors that will take over this spring. Hot pink, a sunny citrus yellow, and a flame orange that’s reminiscent of the stuff our after-school snacks left on our fingers. Head-to-toe fluorescent getups are a lot to swallow.
