Stella McCartney FW 2012
From the looks of it, Stella McCartney held one of her best presentations ever this morning in Paris, as the most important shows of the season got underway. Elegant, wearable, and luxe are the adjectives I would use to describe the collection. Both smart and sporty, Stella really knows how to strike that balance and dress a lady, for the crazy busy lifestyle women have today. There were plenty of oversized coats in shots of electric blue and pink, flipped out skirts, and larger than life handbags. McCartney muse Natalia Vodianova opened and closed the show in high collars which reoccurred throughout.
Among the stars were the exaggerated hourglass dresses, and the streamlined silhouettes that she does so well in spongy fabrics and trompe l’oeil leaves. Typical Stella, take note of the slouchy trousers that bagged at the crotch or those that were skinny, long and tight. She took it up a notch this season creating a craving sensation from the discerning audience. It will be a big year for Stella –her involvement with that little thing called the Olympics (she’s the creative director of Adidas’ Team GB Collection) – and she’s off to a good start. Combing techno-stretch and tweed is the name of the game. Her worlds on the runway and those of the athletes are coinciding perfectly.
