Summer Suede
Some garments are so basic they go with everything, i.e.: a great pair of jeans, a button-down shirt, and others die a quick death once they hit the masses. We all know, trends come and go, hello crochet!? but sometimes it is actually worth holding onto the good stuff. Case in point? A great suede piece for spring and summer. Summer suede is hot.
Suede was huge in the 70’s, and now designers have called it a sure thing: suede is to be this summer’s biggest trend. I blame it on our lust for all effortless, yet feminine with a twist of sexy. From patchwork and colour block separates at Burberry to buttery soft suede jackets at Gucci, suede is the fabric of the season. Suede is easy on its own, but you can repurpose it for many looks and recycle your clothes.
Here I stand, recycling this 3.1 Phillip Lim printed top from several years ago, under a new suede top from Asos, and vintage A Gold E skinnies from the back of my closet. Show don’t tell, so here is how I styled myself one day last week.
