The Basics

Fall is here and although this morning’s high of 50 degrees is as chilly as I want it to ever be, consider what is on the horizon. Old Man Winter. Ba humbug. Overall, it’s no fun to look at Fall without seeing a silver lining, which is in this case, how to start your wardrobe off with good basics and layer everything you own on top.

What does this mean? Pull those white shirts and denim jeans in the forefront of your closet where they will serve as a reminder that maybe they need a refresher course. Perfect timing because right now, what I refer to as the BASICS, crisp white shirts, turtlenecks, denim of all types, and outerwear is on sale right now through Columbus Day. Natch.

Ready to raid your closet?

First, identify your favorite jeans and put them on. Make sure they fit and flatter. Next, put on that white crisp shirt. Let it loose. Put on heels and a mini cross body clutch. Put a necklace on. Layer a sweater over the white shirt, a scarf over that, and consider a hat and an oversized coat.
