Turning Heads at the Met Ball
Monday night was fashion’s biggest party of the year: The Annual Costume Institute Gala, the Met Ball, or as my Twitter friends called it–#fashionsprom. The evening was an over-the-top homage to women of the hour: most notably Miucci Prada and Elsa Schiparelli who are currently exhibiting “Impossible Conversations” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Although my invite must have gotten lost in the mail, I still watched the event via live steam via Vogue.com. I am not going to rehash what was written about Rihanna and Florence Welch or who was too skinny and doesn’t eat–that you can see by clicking on various sites like E’s Fashion Police and VH1 where you can digest, dissect, and make your own conclusions. Peek below for some hair trends that were not only on the spring runways but on the red carpet too. Some went for classic glamour, some went nuts, and some just went, well, pink. Ca Ching.
Gwyneth Paltrow ties it up nicely in her innovative ponytail. She’s a Glamourpuss. But Gwyney…is that your left mammary gland sticking out of your too-short, too-tiny Prada dress? I call that hashtag awkward, Elizabeth.
The natural look. Loose and messy, it is sexy, simple and does the trick. And befitting for Sarah Jessica Parker in her vintage Valentino.
And the wet hair award goes to Rooney Mara, who pulls off the sleek untouchable vampire in a half sheer Givenchy to a tee.
The Met Ball shocker? Don’t say you weren’t warned. I was notified via twitter handles that Coco Rocha was dipping into something daring. Dipedee doo da day. The color of the carpet may have been red, but shocking pink curls made the waves. No exaggeration. Best hairdo of the night? Natch. Go pink or go home!
