What to Wear in Summer 2020
Dress: Innika Choo

This summer is going to look quite different than many others we have experienced. I’m well aware that this summer isn’t going to be a “typical summer.” To start, we will probably be social distancing from each other and wearing face masks. Nonetheless, I thought I’d share some of my favorite products to get ready to be seen. First of all, we’ve all been cooped up in our homes these last few months and perhaps not wearing anything but loungewear, or to be honest, shopping at all. But I am ready to go out at least to enjoy a cocktail while the sun sets. Let’s approach summer 2020 with the same style and grace as summer 2019. Toss aside your sweatpants. This summer, I’m wearing the same sunny-day dresses, boho dresses and floral frocks of summers past. That said, I have a good idea of what the fashion trends of summer 2020 will look like, so I put together this guide for you of covetable pieces for summer inspired by my favorite It-girl outfits. And you might see me in all these looks on my instagram come July! Read on to see what to wear in Summer 2020.
Here’s what you can expect your fashion-forward friends to be wearing this summer, and what to invest in.
What to wear in Summer 2020
Necklace: Electric Picks
Sweat shorts
Early this season, I assumed loungewear would infiltrate our summer wardrobes. It will be too hot to wear the sweatpants you’ve been in since quarantine, so swap them for a pair of sweat shorts. These athleisure bottoms offer the same level of comfort without leaving you perspiring heavily. Wear them while running your weekend errands or when you’re just hanging out with a glass of rosé on the couch.
Baby Doll Dresses
For summer, minidresses in the form of baby doll styles akin to the designs made popular by Cecilie Bahnsen will rule the streets. They are playful, light, airy and very comfortable. I especially love the variations in volume.
A Pop of Neon
Don’t be afraid to stand out. Especially if you want a seat at that outdoor table you are coveting. Put on a pop of neon and you will be noticed.
Bucket Hats
The bucket hat trend isn’t over yet, which is great because I still have my eyes on a few more to add to my collection. The hat offerings reflect the diverse trends in ready to wear, from neon colors to PVC designs. Top off any outfit this summer with a bucket hat for that casual-cool fashion girl look.
Puff Sleeve
Good news for the puff sleeve. This look is still “in” for summer 2020. This 80’s inspired silhouette has been around since last year, but designers show no signs of stopping producing this design into their newer spring/summer, and even fall/winter 2020 collections. It’s the perfect easy-to-wear detail that takes any simple white top from ordinary to exceptional.
